Meet Selena + Erin

Erin and Selena in a home renovation project.

Oh hi! Welcome to our BLOG! What what?? Who dis?? I personally have toyed with the idea of starting a blog for the longest time and something has always held me back. You know, all the typical stuff: the feeling that I don’t have anything useful to say, that no one will care, that I’m not a “writer,” that it’s too big of a commitment, that I’ll run out of ideas... But I’ve done a lot of soul searching, listening to my intuition, and now here we are, starting a blog, and creating a business that fuels us and fills our cups.

Let’s rewind a hot minute. Hi, I’m Selena, half of FLEURISH, mama of 2 boys, wife to an amazingly patient and loving man, and a creative at heart. I’ve always had the desire to make: I’ve had my own line of kids clothing, I’ve flipped homes with my husband, I’ve had a home staging company, but none of it gave me that feeling of contribution I was also seeking. After my two boys were born, I was running my fashion business solo, from my garage (#notglamourousinanyway) and feeling isolated in a way that possibly only a new mother spending her days in a hot garage alone could understand. I had no expectations when I went to a Hatched Collective Coffee and Conversations one fateful January morning other than just getting out of the house and chatting with other likeminded female entrepreneurs. And that’s where I met Erin.

Erin had made the switch into real estate after a career in nursing (all while nurturing a deeper love for art and all things creative, and raising 2 boys herself). She talked about how at first it didn’t feel right, she wasn’t into that sale-sy feeling she got from it...but luckily she found new mentors that led her to a more soulful approach to real estate. People started coming to her with a dream – with a feeling they wanted to cultivate for themselves, their families, and their homes. But then she said something that really made my ears perk up, she said that she was the one her clients would turn to when they wanted anything even remotely “woo woo,” and she’s even been known to sage clients’ new homes before move-in day.

I was like, hold the phone, I need to chat with this soulful, creative, and slightly “woo woo” ladypreneur over there. We talked, we got coffee the following week, and then the craziest thing happened: we decided to start a business together, then and there. It was the equivalent of love at first sight, whatever that is in a totally platonic but I-totally-admire-everything-you’ve-done-and-want-to-do-in-life kind of way.

So here we are, seven months later, feeling like we’ve known each other for a lifetime (and who knows, maybe we have in another one) with a business that we’ve both wanted but didn’t want to go after alone. We both believe that it doesn’t matter the size of your home, or the price tag, but what matters is how it makes you feel.

We believe the interior of a home affects the interior of each person living there. We believe a space cultivates the lifestyle of those living there. And we want to help people create those spaces intentionally, and live an intentional life because of it.

After all, when a space makes us feel incredible - we are that much more inspired to rock the day and share our gifts with the world. And when you boil it all down that’s what it’s really all about anyways. Leaving each place you’ve been slightly better than when you arrived. Touching other peoples’ lives. Connecting. Creating beauty. Doing our part, however small, to make this world a more beautiful place.

So what are you going to find here? You’ll find the things that inspire us. You’ll see photos of our work interspersed with ramblings and thoughts. DIYs and some real life mixed in. Because most of all we want to inspire you to create a home that makes you… feel like you. Where you feel connected to yourself, your family, your friends, and then go out and share your true self with the world. We hope this little corner of the interwebs is a small start to a much larger ripple effect that keeps growing.

Please tell us in the comments what you would like to see here and we can’t wait to share more!

Live well + FLEURISH

xo,

Selena (+ Erin)
